International players, including Ting, have access to excellent training facilities and have high fitness standards, unlike their Indian counterparts. Ting says that he took to table tennis seriously when he was only 12 years old: “Joining the Hang Seng Table Tennis Academy was a critical point of my career in table tennis. Even though it was tough as I had to travel a long way to the training center after school, I was really looking forward to each session of training.”

Indians may not have access to the advanced training methods used by the likes of Ting, but we have something precious in our culture that most of us often overlook – Yoga.

Yoga can be deeply beneficial to table tennis players. Table tennis is a sport that requires a lot of physical and mental stamina. Table tennis players have to be mentally alert at all times and should have tremendous reserves of energy, focus, and concentration.
